In ancient Greek and Egyptian mythology the Phoenix is always female with beautiful gold and red plumage as befits its association with the Sun. There is only one Phoenix at any one time and is said to have a life cycle of at least 500 years *, after which she builds herself a nest before burning both the nest and herself until reduced to ashes, from which a new, young phoenix arises. The bird was also said to regenerate when hurt or wounded by a foe, thus being almost immortal and invincible. The phoenix is a symbol of fire, divinity and transformation. Great associations for an altar chalice.
This Egyptian themed Goblet is of highly detailed resin with a stainless steel inner and stands 17 cm high * or several times during the Harry Potter movies - and don't the tears of a Phoenix have healing powers?
